Mainspring is a Houston-based advisory firm specializing in AI readiness and technology-enabled business transformation. We're family-owned and founder-led — which means when you work with us, you're working with the people who built the methodology, not a team of junior analysts behind a senior partner's name.
We started Mainspring because we kept seeing the same problem: organizations that knew they needed to change, but couldn't get traction. Not because the strategy was wrong. Because the gap between insight and execution was never addressed. We built our practice — and this assessment — to close that gap.
Our founding partner spent years inside Amazon Web Services developing and scaling what became AWS's flagship mechanism for accelerating customer business outcomes — deployed across engagements in more than ten countries. That work required executive alignment, cross-functional orchestration, and the ability to build new organizational capability while simultaneously delivering business results. Not sequentially. At the same time. We brought that same discipline to creating Pan-Amazon commercial models that required alignment across business units, industry specialists, and technical leadership simultaneously.
We've built operating infrastructure for startups from the ground up — including cross-border commercial operations spanning the US and Canada, international supply chains, global logistics, and the financial and tax architecture required to bring a new product category from EMEA markets into the United States. This is the unglamorous, high-stakes work that determines whether a business idea becomes a sustainable operation.
Our team has worked directly with private equity — researching and authoring market-back growth strategies to frame platform investment theses, identifying operational improvement levers across portfolio companies, and presenting value creation roadmaps to senior investment leadership. We understand how sophisticated capital thinks about organizational readiness, which makes us better advisors to the organizations being evaluated.
We've led AI transformation work inside resource-constrained public institutions — conducting operational assessments, reimagining existing workflows for AI enablement, and leading full RFP development and vendor selection processes for technology deployments designed to double organizational capacity at half the cost.
