Data & Technology: Do you actually know where your data lives — and whether it's accessible?

The most common blocker for AI deployments isn't the AI. It's the data. Organizations consistently underestimate how fragmented their data is — customer data in a CRM, operational data in spreadsheets, financial data in accounting software, support history in email. None of it connects. AI tools need consolidated, labeled, accessible data to produce reliable outputs.

Most organizations have never done a comprehensive data audit. They assume their data is more accessible than it is. The first time they try to deploy AI, they discover a 6-month data consolidation project they didn't plan for.

What to look for: Have you done an honest AI literacy assessment across your key teams? Not a survey about how confident people feel — actual skill evaluation. And do you have internal champions who can drive adoption without requiring external consultants to stay?

Execution Capability: What's your track record with change — and is it relevant here?

AI deployment is a change management project. Every organization has a history with technology adoption — some good, some bad. That history is a reliable predictor of how AI initiatives will go.

Organizations that failed their last three technology projects will likely fail their AI project — not because AI is harder, but because the organizational dynamics are the same. AI adoption doesn't reset the change management equation. It requires the same things: clear communication, executive sponsorship, training, feedback loops, and patience.

What to look for: What's the success rate of your last 5 technology initiatives? Where did they succeed and where did they stall?
